The State of Illinois has extended the Stay-at-Home order through the end of May. With increased testing and a declining percentage of positive COVID-19 cases, Chicago remains on track toward reopening safely.
On May 8, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot introduced the “Protecting Chicago” framework, a five-phase plan to guide the city’s reopening while prioritizing the health and safety of vulnerable populations. This plan outlines the steps residents and businesses will take as the city transitions through each phase.
Protecting Chicago
Phase 1 focused on strict stay-at-home measures that successfully slowed the virus’s spread. In Phase 2, residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary interactions to continue flattening the curve. By Phase 3, some businesses can cautiously reopen, but strict social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines must remain in place.
The final two phases of the plan aim to fully reopen Chicago, ensuring the safety of the community and protecting vulnerable individuals. Residents are also urged to seek testing if they experience any symptoms throughout the process.
Our Safety Standards
As Chicago moves through the “Protecting Chicago” framework, we’re preparing for the careful reopening of small businesses. Our photo studio has implemented safety procedures for both indoor and outdoor sessions to ensure the well-being of our clients and staff.
Currently, outdoor photo shoots are permitted, though public parks remain closed. We’re following all safety protocols, limiting session participants, and ensuring staff and clients maintain proper distancing. Masks are worn at all times, except when clients are being photographed.
Once Chicago enters Phase 3, we look forward to resuming indoor sessions while continuing to prioritize safety.
Your Safety at Events
For those planning small gatherings, including baby showers and intimate events, keep the framework in mind. Phase 3 allows gatherings with fewer than 10 people. Continue to wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash your hands regularly to protect vulnerable community members.
We’re excited to welcome you back to our studio and remain committed to capturing your special moments, safely and responsibly.
